Our Eco Commitment

Travel Consciously. Leave a Positive Impact.

At Conscious Way Tours, we believe travel should protect the planet, uplift communities, and inspire meaningful connections. Our eco-commitment goes beyond promises — it’s the foundation of everything we do.

Our Impact in Numbers (2024–2025)

5,000+ trees planted (3,000 in Kilimanjaro foothills).

120+ students supported with school supplies & eco-education.

Funding for 2 community rangers in Tarangire corridor.

100+ kg plastic waste removed from Zanzibar beaches.

Our Guiding Principles

Sustainable Lodging

  • Partner only with eco-certified lodges & camps using solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and waste recycling.
  • Prioritize properties that employ local staff and source farm-to-table cuisine.

Low-Impact Safaris & Treks

  • Small groups (max 6 per safari vehicle / 10 per Kilimanjaro trek).
  • Fair wages and ethical treatment of porters & mountain crews (following Kilimanjaro Porter Assistance Project standards).
  • “Leave No Trace” trekking — all waste carried down, refill stations for water bottles.

Community First

  • At least 10% of profits support local projects (education, conservation, women’s empowerment).
  • Partner directly with community-owned tourism initiatives.
  • Encourage guests to engage in authentic cultural experiences that benefit locals directly.

Conservation Support

  • Tree planting & habitat restoration in Kilimanjaro foothills and Tarangire corridors.
  • Support anti-poaching efforts through donations & guest awareness.
  • Collaboration with marine conservation groups in Zanzibar.

Plastic-Free Travel

  • Provide guests with refillable water bottles.
  • Work with lodges that ban single-use plastics.
  • Partner with suppliers that package responsibly.

Eco Commitment Programs in Kilimanjaro

Kilimanjaro Reforestation Project

Each guest trekking Kilimanjaro plants at least one indigenous tree in the Marangu or Moshi area. Over 3,000 trees planted since 2023 to combat deforestation.

Porter Welfare & Fair Travel Standards

We guarantee fair wages, proper meals, and gear for porters. Certified by KPAP (Kilimanjaro Porter Assistance Project) guidelines.

School & Eco-Education in Moshi

Partner with local schools to provide eco-education workshops on waste management, conservation, and climate change. Guests may join for half-day volunteering experiences.

Community Clean-Up Drives

Monthly clean-ups in Moshi town & Kilimanjaro trailheads to reduce plastic pollution. Guests can participate during their acclimatization day.

Your Role as a Conscious Traveler

When you choose us, you’re not just booking a safari or climb — you’re joining a movement for sustainable travel. Each guest directly contributes to:

  • Planting a tree in Kilimanjaro foothills.
  • Supporting local porters & guides with fair wages.
  • Funding community education programs.

Our Pledge for the Future

  • Reach carbon-neutral operations by 2030.
  • Expand partnerships with community-owned eco-lodges.
  • Introduce eco-volunteer programs on every Kilimanjaro route.
